From home and away, Savant makes control simple—with everything you need in a single, elegant app.
Apple Home Kit
With Apple HomeKit you can use your iOS device to control many of your home’s basic functions—lights, locks, thermostats, shades, security, garage doors, fans, cameras, and doorbells—through the Apple Home app. You can also control all of your devices through voice command to Siri, as well as via your iPhone or iPad.
The list of devices Apple HomeKit integrates with is growing—Honeywell Lyric Thermostats, August Smart Home Locks, Lutron Caseta Light Dimmers. There is little to no Audio & Video integration (e.g. universal remote control)
Apple HomeKit is a good solution for basic systems that doesn’t come with a monthly recurring charge. It’s great for small homes/condos as well as apartments.
Amazon Alexa Echo entered the market in 2016 with the first smart speaker that responds to voice commands and integrates with smart home technologies—Lutron lighting, fans, Nest thermostats, doorbells, shades, security, and music (Sonos).
Alexa has a robust voice control system that responds to complex questions like “Alexa, ask Food Network for the recipe on TV right now,” or “Alexa, to lock my doors, dim the living room to 20%, and set the downstairs temperature to 72.”
Alexa also integrates with a wide variety of smart home products including Samsung SmartThings, Insteon Hub, Philips Hue, Lutron Caseta, Nest, Honeywell, Rachio, Scout Alarm and more.
Lutron recently entered the marketplace with a DIY lighting automation kit that allows you to both dim your LED, halogen and incandescent bulbs, and set scenes and schedules straight from your mobile device. It is extremely customizable and scalable from one room to your whole home (up to 50 devices).
Lutron Caseta also integrates with all of the major DIY smart home hubs like Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Lutron has it’s own app that allows you to operate everything from your smart phone. We’re big fans of Lutron Caseta and can help get you set up with all the necessary equipment.
Ring Doorbell and Security Cameras
Ring is the original smart doorbell, giving you the capability to see, hear and speak to anyone at your door from your smartphone, tablet or computer. It’s the latest in a string of devices that easily integrate with most existing systems, but can also operate on a standalone basis
Get instant alerts when visitors press the button on your doorbell or trigger motion sensors. Protect your home day and night with infrared night vision, and communicate with visitors via two-way audio with noise cancellation.
Google Home is the newest voice-controlled smart home hub and is quickly gaining ground on Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit.
Like Alexa and Apple, Google Home controls a variety of technologies including your audio/video, security, climate and lighting through a robust platform, with far-field voice recognition, multi-room capability, touch controls and high fidelity sound.
Like Amazon Alexa, Google Home also has the capacity to answer complex questions. Get real-time answers including the latest on weather, traffic, finance, sports, local businesses, flight information, recipes, trivia questions and more.
